Like most Texans, I am fed up with the rapidly growing Texas budget filled with waste, corporate cronyism, and funding for leftwing causes like DEI.
Unlike most Texans, I am able to go to the Texas Capitol and testify against the bloated Texas budget. I would have loved to have done so on Monday when the Texas House Appropriations Committee, chaired by Rep. Greg Bonnen (appointed by Democrat-elected Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows), took up the appropriations bill, SB 1. However, my desire to do so was quashed by this notification from the committee:
The appropriations bill is the most important bill the Texas Legislature will pass this session. It drives policy as well as spending. When spending goes up, so does the size and scope of Texas state and local government. Which in turn leads to more oppression and assaults on the liberty of Texans. Yet the Republican-led committee decided to prohibit the public from testifying on the bill that will determine Texas’ budget for the next two years.
Even though I was not allowed to testify, I still have three thoughts on the Texas budget. I’ll share them with you here.

Pathetic and maddening since we can't escape the irresponsible behavior of our so-called elected officials. Are they not monitoring the findings of DOGE? Perhaps we need to borrow DOGE. Texas needs to take a lesson from the Federal Government of Waste and this includes our Governor.
