The reason I write ExcellentThought (Philippians 4:8) is to try to bring the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27) to issues we face in American culture today.
Some of the issues I focus on are public policy, the law, the church, the family, and science. These are universal subjects, and I do my best to write about them universally so that readers of ExcellentThought in other countries and states can relate to them.
Yet I live in Texas and have worked for years on Texas public policy, and so have a particular interest in helping apply God’s Word to Texas public policy. In addition, we are in the midst of Texas’ biennial legislative session. Thus, a lot of content of late has been focused on Texas. I do my best to bring biblical and economic principles into my writing on Texas in a way so that those outside of Texas can apply them to issues where they live.
Today’s post is again focused on Texas. I’ve found myself working with a group of great folks who are concerned about the reliability and security of the Texas grid. We are having a symposium next week in Austin, Wednesday March 19, to discuss these problems and looking at legislation that can help fix the problem. I’ll be on a panel focused on renewables. Another panel will be on the explosion of battery storage across the state. And the last panel will be on securing the grid from various potential attacks. See the details below to RSVP at SecureTexasGrid@proton.me, but even if you don’t, please show up if you can make it.
Though the symposium is focused on Texas, this is a universal problem. President Trump made the “green new scam” one of the main points of his campaign. And his administration is going directly after it, trying to claw back billions of dollars in subsidies from Biden’s ill-titled Inflation Reduction Act and changing or eliminating numerous regulations at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These and laws across the country are having effects in every state, not to mention in countries in Europe and elsewhere.
I hope you can join us in Austin next week. But if you can’t, please think about what you can to help change your state and nation’s policies about climate change and renewables that are having disastrous consequences for economies and people everywhere.
Fantastic Event. I"ll be sure to RSVP at SecureTexasGrid@proton.me
Thank you Bill.
